🌹Happy 1st of May!🌹
This is a drawing I had made last month because April 13th was too close.
That day- April 13th 1204, the forces of the Fourth Crusade sacked Constantinople. The destruction was massive. Men, women, children slaughtered, treasury stolen or destroyed.
"Never, since the world was created had so much booty been won in any city", Geoffroi de Villehardouin describes in his book 'De la Conquête de Constantinople'.
Sooo I made some of the main characters of that Crusade.
From left to right:
•Geoffroi de Villehardouin, marshal of Champagne, of Romanía and someone whose role was high in that Crusade.
•Enrico Dandolo, the Doge of Venice, a very sly(and old too!) man, who made the Crusaders aim against Constantinople.
•Boniface, Marquis of Montferrat, King of Thessalonica. The main leader of the Crusade *thanks to Geoffroi de Villehardouin*
•Baldwin of Flanders, Emperor of the Latin Empire(the state formed above the Byzantine Empire after 1204. Frenemies with Boniface over Thessalonica. Fun fact: His skull was made into a drinking cup by the Bulgarian Tsar Kalojan I.

Since I love history and such subjects, I liked the picture very much! It's a pity that it has so few views... I only burn for the Latin Empire that will die in 1261 :)
